I also read if you end up with a "tune" some tuners can disable that MIL for you.

Any AlfaOBD users know if there is a option to turn this sensor off? @DAVECS1

Would it be possible to add a small 1/4 line that runs the same route to keep the factory sensors happy all will allowing the majority to be caught by the catch can?

I dont know enough about the OE system to validate my idea so you will have to excuse my ignorance.

Yes. I trimmed mine as pictured, along with the mentioned SB scoops:

i did about 3/4, left the flap towards the front, to deflect any heavy rain potential intrusion when driving

So the argument I'm seeing here is that opening up the air box is increasing air flow, subsequently reducing air temperature and having some affect on EGR temp as a result?
Has anyone measured this to confirm? And, has this affected oil temps as a result?
If so, this would make a huge case for a replacement air filter solution (think CAI) coupled with an intercooler.

Or, a methanol/water injection kit. Spend $500, have it spray winter washer fluid into the air intake and boom, much lower EGTs.

I appreciate your enthusiasm for a solution, but think about what you are suggesting.........

Better flowing airbox....Possible solution or improvement yet to be proven. 1979Wagooneer has reported no issues after his regear and air box mod. I can confirm gearing made little or no difference by my testing swapping between stock tires and 37's duplicating the test next day with the same load.....Maybe we're on to something.

Upgraded CAC........Lets transfer more heat into the radiator with the superheated air flowing through a more efficient CAC? Just thinking out loud.

Water/Meth.....Temporary solution that would require a very large tank or one would be on the roadside adding every couple hundred miles? Possible solution, but I'm not racing stoplight to stoplight. I regularly travel 600-4500 miles towing our RV, so not a solution for me.

If cooler air is the requirement, then what about trimming the hood like the 3.6L owners do when they install the factory MOPAR snorkel? I realize they have the snorkel to keep water out, but during normal highway use; it would be direct, cooler air right next to the filter box; there’s already a template out there to cut from the 3.6L folks; and if someone has a 3D printer, maybe they could make/sell a block off panel to use when off-roading and splashing around. Or a down-turned intake port that sort of “hangs” over the fender. Even better if we could get someone to “flip” the entire snorkel for driver’s side use and 3D print that!

Good news, I found some more radiator! LoL
Tucked nicely behind the bumper and blocked from any path of flow. I removed the plastic trim behind the bumper and I am adding a metal pan that will allow the air pressure/flow in front of the grill to also hit this hidden section of radiator. I will be testing the temp of the this lower radiator section with thermocouples to verify any improvements.

Updated: I installed the diverter pan and my quick and dirty test showed it lowered engine coolant temp by 8 ish degrees and engine oil temp by nothing while towing my enclosed trailer at 70mph. I still need to add a thermocouple to the lower section and test with and without the air flow to check the temperature differential.

Nice ?? can’t hurt!
When I get my truck back I’ll be scheduling some garage time to get to that bypass system, just need to have my truck to do the mods.

I molded airbox today as well. I don't like thst ots basically a scoop for water now. Makes me want to get a CAI simply because it won't suck up water and be more open, even though there's no real gains from it other than that.

Just made a trip to New Mexico and back with a little improvement but not near enough for me. The Taza’s ability to turn on the fan for sure helps. I’ve also modified the Rubicon hood vents to let the heat out. I do think this helps a little. You can feel the heat coming out the engine bay. I am able to pull my 6300lbs camper without overheating but I have to watch it very closely. I pretty much run the fan all the time on the highway. On large hills or into a strong headwind I have to slow down to keep it cool. Plenty of power and it sucks not being able to use it. I hit the mountains, the truck wants to drop to 5th gear and go. I have to keep it in 6th and let it ease up the steep grades. Haven’t modified the airbox, maybe I’ll try that next. I’d pay damn good money to get this fixed right. Still love the truck!

Oh, I did add a custom built fuel tank/tool box in the bed. Truck holds an extra 17 gallons. Damn nice pulling for 350 plus miles and not stopping for diesel.

I saw these posted somewhere, oil and transmission pans made of aluminum with cooling fins, also add fluid volume. How much would they help I wonder???

I wrote to PPE (Pacific Performance Engineering) and they do not have an application for the Gladiator at this time. The guy who responded said he would pass the info on to their engineering department.

I'd recommend everyone reach out to them yourself so they realize that there could be a significant market for their products in a Gladiator.

There is a red support button on the bottom right of their page where you can reach out to them.

Towing the down below, I have noticed temps of 226F and up in coldish weather up to 50F.
It has not gone over. They definitely run hot and I can tell it doesn't have enough airflow when compared to other cars. Towing/hauling more than I did I'd be more concerned about brakes which were very disappointing for a vehicle that has towing capability.

390lbs in the bed plus ~100lbs of gear inside and pulling ~1850lbs.

Been thinking about an extra fuel tank because I hate stopping every 175 or so to fill up. Mind sharing how you built your setup?

Is anyone running a Snorkel on their diesel and seen if that helps to cool at all due to potentially more airflow?
