So far nothing gets more oil temp drop than 2-4* unless I've missed the post.

You missed the post about slowing your speed. Slowing down certainly does the trick, and sometimes by 15*F or more. More fuel = more heat. Slowing down will help keep oil temps under control. I realize that it's a very unpopular choice because it's free and not a complicated and expensive modification that so many Jeepers yearn for. ;)

Yes I didn't miss it, I use that method and the Tazar fan adjustment but on big hills 100*+ days and over 7400lbs I need a real solution ie.. large oil cooler as water temp has never been the issue..

Mounts to the frame tusks beneath the front bumper (see picture).

The large unit is sold, another person has expressed interest in the remaining smaller unit but hasn’t finalized the purchase yet…

Small unit is $450 with a new core, 5/8 hose, and clamps.

Oh man if I seen this back in Jan... Would have been sold in a heart beat. Ended up buying the bulletproof cooler and looking to fab a mounting solution

There's clearly demand for a cooler setup. We just need to find someone who's interested in and able to put together a commercially viable solution.

Unfortunately under the bumper isn't a particularly good location because I'd rip mine off in the first 5 minutes of any of my favorite trails.

I don't do much hard-core offroad trails. Mostly forest trails. And camping. So right now looking to mount the BPD cooler behind the OEM plastic bumper metal skid (I have the arcus bumper so the BPD setup doesn't fit right)

I also don't do any hardcore 4 wheeling like that. I'm building a TJ for that. I personally am VERY interested in an under bumper cooling device that can work with other than stock bumpers!!

Alright, I've read through so many threads about people trying multiple things and then posting word soup with too many situations and variables where this did that but this did that, but then this did this while doing this... and I can't keep anything straight on whats worked, what hasn't and who is still running what...

Was tapping into the ports on the factory oil cooler to run an aux cooler a yay or nay?

Is there more % through the cooler ports vs the oil filter/oil pressure port?

Was the Insane Diesel filter and cooler kit a yay or nay? It's rather overpriced so I don't see it cost effective compared to other options.

Is it better to run the oil return into the pan?

Has anyone found that ideal setup?

As far as coolant I plan to run the BPD aux cooler with a super coolant mixture. Thats an easy one.

I can't decide on oil cooling;
Feed from oil pressure port and return to oil cap?
Feed from pressure port and return into pan?
Feed from Gen2 oil filter and return to oil cap? Or return to pan?
Aux cooler using ports on factory oil cooler

Anything off the oil pressure port needs a t-fitting. Insane Diesel makes one but it's ridiculously priced at $150. Should be able to source one at the local hardware store as long as the thread is common (1/8-27 NPT?).

Anything that uses the oil filter housing or filler cap requires modifying those components or sourcing from Insane Diesel (which again is expensive).

Returns to oil pan requires drilling and installing fittings. Not a big deal and easy to do.

Using ports on factory cooler is the easiest, but unsure if it's the most efficient or effective.

I understand that slowing down reduces temps, and no I'm not saying I want to do 80 mph up a mountain, but I really don't want to become a 20mph hazard to already distracted and erratic 80mph traffic on I70. I've seen enough of drivers almost slamming into the back of truckers in the slow lane.

Returning oil to the valve covers would be a bad idea from what I have read over the years.

AS I understand this the biggest problem is where to install the cooler in a way that it works and you can still run your rig off road.

Nothing can cool the oil when the coolant/radiator is heating it up. It will never get cooler than the radiator/coolant temps.

Someone needs to get us a oil housing delete plate with 2 ports for a full flow filter (spin on) and cooler. This would solve it. They did this on the gen 2 rams and it worked on those.

I dont de-rate and all I have done is a full delete and all of the stupid foam and insulation removed. I added a poison spyder hood vent and if it gets really hot I run the tazer cooldown function.

Still can hit 250 if i go fast up a hill on 40s.

Thanks, @GladiatorPilot23. I just placed my order today. William and others have done enough testing to persuade me to make the switch. I've got three EcoDiesels, so this a is a good source to buy from for the bulk discount and fast/easy shipping.
That’s awesome. Did you see how I did the job it might be very helpful but it’s buried somewhere in the thread. I was able to suck about 5 quarts out with that method and did 8 sessions of flushing / driving to turn that nice pee yellow color.

I'm sure I saw it, but I don't remember your method. I typically just do a drain and fill using the radiator drain-cock. To find your post, do you have a word that will work in the search function? Maybe the name of tool that you used?
